BiLevel or BiPAP (Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure) machines treat Sleep Apnea by delivering one pressure during inhalation and a lower pressure during exhalation. See the bottom of this page or click here for additional information on BiPAP Machines.

Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP or BiLevel) machines are another type of PAP machine that effectively and non-invasively treats Obstructive and Central Sleep Apnea. Similar to a CPAP machine, the pressurized air emitted by the BiPAP machine is enough to keep the airways open all night, preventing apneas (pauses in breathing due to a collapsed airway) and hypopneas (shallow breaths due to a partially closed airway) so you wake up feeling refreshed and energized. They are slightly different from CPAP machines in that they deliver two pressures of air. One pressure is delivered during inhalation while a lower pressure is delivered during exhalation, making it easier for the patient to exhale. The pressures to which the machine is set are different for each person and are prescribed by a doctor. Each machine is compact enough to fit on a bedside table and includes tubing, a power cord, and a filter. Some machines are made to be convenient for traveling. Supplementary elements (such as a humidifier or heated hose) may also be bought to augment your CPAP therapy.
